The Beginning

Laurel Creek Imaging didn’t start in a studio, a classroom, or even with a business plan—it started with an idea that refused to fade.

Over 20 years ago, Eric was working as an electrician. He enjoyed the work, took pride in it, and built a solid career. Today, he still works within the electrical trade—just in a different role—but that same mindset carries over into everything he does.

He comes from a family of hard workers—people who showed up, put in the effort, and always got the job done. That’s where his work ethic was built, and it’s something he’s carried with him throughout his life, whether on the job or behind the camera, capturing mesmerizing Appalachian prints.

Discovering Photography

But there was always something else pulling at him—a quiet but persistent passion for outdoor photography that had been there since he was young. Back then, life moved fast, and learning traditional cameras just never seemed to fit into the schedule.

What did fit, though, was his love for the outdoors. Whether it was the woods, a quiet creek, or a wide-open landscape, Eric always found himself drawn outside. That connection to nature shaped how he sees the world—and eventually, what he wanted to capture in his landscape photography.

Then digital photography arrived—and everything changed.

Eric jumped in headfirst. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a deep passion. Camera in hand, often outdoors, he began to see the world differently—capturing not just what was there, but what it felt like. As technology evolved, so did he.

The Perspective

Eric is someone who values quiet, reflection, and seeing the world from a different angle. Like many people, life has come with its share of challenges—times that weren’t always easy.

The Work Behind It

Life, as it does, got busy. Responsibilities stacked up. Time was limited. There were no vendor shows, no polished website, no constant social media presence—just years of learning whenever he could.

But the effort never stopped.

Most evenings after work are spent building Laurel Creek Imaging—working on the website, refining details, and slowly moving the business forward. Weekends are often spent outside, searching for the right scene—not the perfect shot, but one that feels beautiful in his eyes, embodying the essence of Appalachian prints.

The Approach

His approach is simple and intentional: no shortcuts when it comes to the images themselves. Every photo is captured and carefully edited by hand using the fundamentals of Photoshop.

While he may use modern tools like AI to help craft descriptions and share his work more effectively, the photography itself is always his own—authentic, personal, and true to his vision.
